Understanding the template header in Global Master Data Sync

When you set up Global Master Data Sync in Business Central, the template header holds the basic settings that control how data synchronizes between your master company and your subscriber companies. Knowing what each field does makes it much easier to configure your templates correctly. Here is a walkthrough of the basic fields you find in the template header.

Code and Description fields

The Code field defines the code of the template. This is a field where you type in your own value, so you decide what the code should be.

The Description is a free text description you choose for the template. It can be anything you find useful, for example the name of the table the template refers to.

Master Partner ID and Owner Company Name

The Master Partner ID is the partner code of the master. In the master company, this holds the partner code you have in the master. In a subscriber company, this field is used to determine where the master is located.

The Owner Company Name simply states the name of the owner company.

Table ID and Table Caption

The Table ID defines which table number this template refers to.

The Table Caption shows the caption of the table in the language your Business Central is set up in.

Template Type and Sequence Number

The Type field defines what sort of template you are working with. It can be a normal template, a sub template, or a field template.

The Sequence Number determines the order in which the templates are synchronized.

Bundling Classification, Status, and Released On

The Bundling Classification is a classification you can define on the template.

The Status shows what status the template currently has.

The Released On field shows the date and time the template was released.
